We believe the public has a right to know who's lobbying MPs about what. I'm delighted that my Lobbying Disclosure Bill has passed its first reading in Parliament with unanimous support from all Parties.
The Bill would bring some much-needed transparency into political lobbying in New Zealand. While Labour's proposed some interesting amendments, I think it's too soon to be looking at specific changes, and it's also important that the Bill continues to be fair and apply across the board.
Submissions are now open on the Bill from now until the 5th of October and I encourage everyone to have their say on this important issue.
