Shelf Life #4: Germaine Ingram
Discovery Zones/Journal #33
The fourth iteration of our ongoing Shelf Life series features an installation by contemporary jazz tap artist and 2010 Pew Fellow in the Arts Germaine Ingram. This display, which features a simulation of Ingram’s bed, is littered with research paraphernalia—journals and books in various states of use. In perusing the elements, it becomes clear that the primary subject of inquiry for Ingram at the particular moment captured by this installation is a question posited by Ralph Lemon that Ingram has re-applied to her own practice: How do you tap dance race?
