One of our current Artists in Residence, Macedoinian-born Irena Pejovic has been making herself at home in London and in londonprintstudio, by creating some mammoth, expressive screenprints.
Irena has begun by reworking collographs she produced back in her print studio in New Jersey. Using these large collographs as a base, Irena has been using mark resist films to draw then expose new layers for screenprinting. These unique layers have resolved the collographs, both in colour and composition.
Irena has also been subtly incorporating Olympic influences in her work, using a rice paper purchased in Beijing during the last Olympics. Like the collographs, this rice paper has been previously printed and now being finished four years later at the next Olympic site.
