It is July 11th, and like every year on this date people gather in Srebrenica to bury the ones lost in the 1995 genocide. For some the burial is an intimate event, for others a collective political gathering. Umbrellas are used to protect against the midday sun, but also against the cameras and the gaze of others, or to narrow one's own field of vision against the unbearable. Fragile intimate rememberances collide with public history.
