Paradise Lost tells the story of Miami's most explosive decade. Spanning the mid seventies to the mid eighties. The work explores the themes of glamour, desire and destruction. Losely based on the November 1981 Time magazine story that exposed Miami as a cocaine ridden city of drugs and violence. The War on Drugs, the Reagan years of excess, the fall of disco, police corruption, and colorful characters like drug kingpin, Griselda Blanca and cigarette boat king, Don Aronow are all inspiration for this body of work. "The current level of greed and corruption in our culture definately added to the work in a wierd way. Eventhough I was using interviews and historical references ,making the work in 2008-09 during the worst recession we have seen was especially poignant.
