It is impossible to imagine the level of courage and determination to survive that Sam would have needed, to go from waking up with the realization of being trapped in his body - with no way of communicating at all, to overcome this incredible frustration and overwhelming sense of loss and move on to give everything beyond human imagination that has progressed him to where he is today. The medical prognosis for Sam was that he would be bed ridden locked away in a home for the remainder of his expected short life.
Despite this very grim outlook, with the support of his forever loving and devoted parents Pam, Dennis and fiancée Tess, Sam fought so hard for every single, micro return of function he gradually acquired over a 2 year period, until he was fit enough to be able to travel to the NeuroPhysics Therapy (NPT) Clinic on the Gold Coast, Qld, to work with NPT founder Ken Ware and all of the NPT team.
Typical of Sam’s grit and determination and his incredible support team, Sam made incredible shifts in his ability to do things in the first couple of day of NPT. Sam’s self-esteem and sense of self improved daily, along with his cognitive processing skills. Feeling empowered and more independent contributed to Sam feeling able bodied again, which he expresses jubilantly.
Sam had worked hard with a lot of other therapies over the 2 years pre NPT, however the setting was right for same to make major leaps forward in his 9 weeks of NeuroPhysics Therapy.
