An improvised duo for bass flute and soprano t-stick at the Centro Mexicano para la Música y Artes Sonoras in Morelia, Mexico (29 June, 2012).
Salvador Torre, amplified bass flute
D. Andrew Stewart, soprano t-stick
Another work in a series of improvised duets where acoustic and digital instrumentalists find common timbre and theatrical spaces. I am interested in building a repertoire of such duets, which will lead to a large-scale composition for numerous acoustic and digital instrumentalists, in the future. Improvisation-Transir marks the first time working as a stage performer with Salvador Torre. I was excited by the similar ways in which our bodies ‘reacted’ to our music-making.
