Morts Pour Rien (Dead for Nothing)
Only 15 kilometres away from Paris, Clichy-sous-Bois is a world apart from the lavish designer shops, restaurants and architecture that adorn the Champs-Elysees. Clichy-sous-Bois made itself known to the rest of the world on the 27th October 2005 when two teenagers of North African descent were killed in an electrical sub station after being chased by the police; this sparked weeks of rioting from youths across most suburbs in France- looking to vent their frustration after years of social exclusion from the rest of French society.
We explore the banlieue of Clichy-sous-Bois and the reasons behind the riots by speaking to those who were born and raised there to give their own personal accounts of life in the suburbs and what has been done since the riots.
