The Neue Vahr Süd site consists of two apartment precincts separated by a large central neutral void. Although the community is highly regarded, there is a severe lack of diversity within the apartment typologies and there lies within the site numerous undefined anonymous public spaces.
Our urban strategy contains a series of interventions to create a space for social engagement. The multiple interventions, with varying programs, work together as focal points to connect the two apartment precincts. Together the interventions soften the barrier between public and private spaces and respond to the site’s demographic needs. We have developed an Activation, Intergration and Diversification concept that aims to respondto the issues we have highlighted through our site analysis.
