Night has fallen. Lightning and distant rumbling announce an approaching thunderstorm. In a lonely house a young woman mourns her deceased husband. With tears in her eyes she puts out the bedside lamp and tries to go to sleep. In a misty graveyard facing the house a tombstone on one of the graves starts to move. A pale hand appears. The shape of a man rises from the grave and starts staggering towards the house…
R.I.P. was shot in the Summer of 2001 and released theatrically in the Netherlands by UIP, accompanying ALI G INDAHOUSE. This was the biggest ever theatrical release of a short Dutch film. R.I.P. was also presented in the official selections of numerous national and international film festivals. It won the Crystal Skull Award at the Sceamfest (Los Angeles, 2003) and the Grand Prize of European Fantasy Short Film in Gold at Dead by Dawn (Edinburgh, 2004).
R.I.P. was produced by Egmond Film & Television and financed by NPS Television and the Dutch Filmfund in collaboration with the CoBO Fund and STIFO as part of KORT! (SHORT!), an annual series of 9 short films.
