On the heels of Curiosity's Mars touchdown (yay, team!), but actually inspired by the NetFlix release of the original 80 episodes of Star Trek, the IMPS of Marge and Fletch have completed a new series of satirical situational photographs set in outer space: INTERGALACTIC EXPANSION. In a distant future when natural resources are scarce on Earth, the series considers the lengths to which America and her allies will go to secure precious new sources of energy from the far-flung reaches of the universe. Occupation and economic subjugation combine to ensure that America gets things her way - a future pointedly similar to our own present. From retro spaceships to daring space walks to alien living rooms, the IMF has designed a universe in homage to the low-budget science fiction of the mid-20th century; the series also achieves an apex of invention for the group that is all its own. The 12 images of the series will show at Edition Photo in Vienna, Austria, opening September 4th, 2012.
