Kathy T. Glass—President of Glass Educational Consulting and author of Mapping Comprehensive Units to the ELA Common Core State Standards (Corwin, April, 2012)—shared a process for using sample ELA Common Core (CC) Standards to map comprehensive units of study. She focused on how to use ELA CC Standards to develop essential understandings and also provide unit and lesson guiding questions to shape rigorous, concept-driven curriculum. Glass shared examples of essential understandings and guiding questions tied to the CC and also ELA differentiated, formative assessments aligned to selected CC Standards.
This webinar is particularly useful for 3rd–8th grade language arts and social studies teachers who use the common core standards to design curriculum, as well as department chairs, administrators and curriculum designers.
