Professor Jo Shaw’s new book, ‘The People in Question’, is an important contribution in a time of rising populism and heated debates about migration. Drawing on examples from around the world, it examines what can be learned about citizenship from a constitutional perspective. This incisive appraisal is the first sustained treatment of the relationship between citizenship policy and constitutional law in a transnational perspective.
The event brings together distinguished scholars - Dieter Gosewinkel, Kriszta Kovács, Michael Riegner, Ayelet Shachar, Jo Shaw, Rogers Smith, and Daniel Thym - to explore the interaction between constitutions and citizenship and their nexus with to stories of peoplehood, collective identities, and borders and boundaries.
Online event held on 8 October 2020 at the WZB Berlin Social Science Center.
