Sometimes the most unsuspecting and pleasant glimpses into life come from old electrical tape tins with a roll of 8mm film inside. This was the case with this film, a 4-minute look into a trip to second ever Daytona 500 (February 1960). The viewer is treated with the last few laps of the race and the celebration thereafter. The film ends with a more somber scene: a women standing by a grave site as the sun sets on a beautiful New England winter's day.
To me it is fascinating that both of these events were documented on the same roll of film—complete with light leaks, film grain, dust and scratches.
