Today we spent the day with Garry’s sister Lorraine and her husband, Keith.
We were up nice early to catch a glimpse of the white cliffs of Dover before we docked. The harbour entrance was quite narrow and the wind was blowing a gale, so we had a tug up by our nose to give us nudge here and there as we needed it.
We decided to head towards Canterbury. This was a little bland as everything was closed until 11am.
So after a short tour around the streets, we took the drive to Rye in East Sussex. Why didn’t we do this earlier? What a gorgeous little village! Wandering around the lanes and shops until we found a typical pub where we had Sunday roast for lunch. We loved this little town and could have easily have spent the day there.
Instead we were pretty keen to get back so we could visit Dover Castle. We really enjoyed the time there - a lot of the rooms were decorated just as they would have been back in their day. Even as far as having play actors in costume chatting and interacting with the visitors.
