“When you look back, it’s when you realize that it was really hard word and it has a lot of good things.”
Twenty-two year old Paola was diagnosed with knee cancer when she was only seventeen years old. Since then, she has begun to see the world in a completely different way and has become a more adventurous individual. With a goal to “know every country in the world”, she describes herself as a shy, but adventurous person who likes to do new things and likes to live her life day-by-day without missing opportunities. Throughout her cancer treatment, she learned that she can give herself injections, took the time to learn new languages and play music instruments and tried out a new hair color, being a redhead before her hair fell out. Seeing cancer as a long vacation, she says: “I think it’s an opportunity to realize that you have a lot of people around you who care about you."
