Climbing started at Summersville Lake 30 years ago, and ever since then, climbers and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers have enjoyed a strong working relationship. In October of 2020, climbers and the Corps teamed up over an ambitious list of projects to harden the site against increased crowds and to conserve a shoreline that had been badly eroded by years of boat and foot traffic.
