SCA NOW elevates creativity, empathy, vulnerability, civic engagement, adaptability, and promote positive social-emotional impact.
The present crisis gives us all a chance to repair vulnerabilities in access—to arts events through virtual and physical spaces, and to the benefits of the arts economy. The Art Center is deeply concerned about how our local districts and those around the state are dealing with the challenges of meeting the needs of all students during the pandemic. We know that the expansion of arts education to all children engages learners of all ages, while helping to buffer and interrupt at risk trajectories.
The SCA will provide “Classroom Conversations", a series of pre-recorded educational conversations via Vimeo with companion activities to educators for use in classrooms or at-home learning.
The SCA is committed to designing interactive digital resources and learning tools that are significant, adaptable and meaningful. We are connecting projects to purpose with activities allowing for exploration and individual design choices that promote a greater sense of individual agency in making. We want to enhance pathways for creative fields and expose nontraditional career journeys.
The videos and accompanying program materials will creatively meet students' needs as well as the needs of the teachers who would share them with their students. We will provide youth (K-12th) with access to professional working artists, expose them to a variety of different creative mediums; real-world role models and inspire them to take action to make the world a better place.
