It's hard to get help without an address. Chi-Race and her family know this first hand. She didn't have a large support network and had to make the difficult choice: put food on the table or keep a roof over her family's head.
That's when they became part of United Way's Housing First program. Housing First helps families achieve a stable housing situation before and while addressing other issues that contributed to their homelessness. Thanks to Housing First's multi-pronged approach of case management, financial coaching and budgeting, Chi-Race now maintains permanent housing and proudly supports her family.
United Way and our partners can do even more with your support:
1. We offer financial counseling
2. We provide eviction-prevention training to landlords
3. We're increasing access to surplus food so families don't have to choose between groceries and rent
