Chrome Customs Military Salvage Program
Since 1995, Chrome has made bags from reclaimed or salvage materials. Last year we started making our iconic messenger bag with salvage military duffels and tents. The response was amazing, particularly from US Military Personnel who wanted us to make bags using their personal duffels and fatigues. These items carry significant meaning, but can’t be used frequently in civilian life.
In 2012 we created the Chrome Customs Military Salvage Program in recognition of Memorial Day. This Program invited Veterans and military families to work with our custom bag makers in one of our four Chrome HUBs in SF, NYC, Chicago and Portland to build a custom bag from their duffle and fatigues.
This program was extremely successful. People have shared their stories with us and we were moved. It reminded us how fortunate we are and how bags have meaning. Check out a short documentary we made of one of these bags and what these mean to their owners.
Our Salvage Program continues to this day. Visit or contact any of our HUBs in SF, PDX, SEA, CHI, and NY to make your own salvage bag: chromeindustries.com/us/en/hubs
