This work speaks about the city.
How to approach to the emergency state that many cities keep at this moment? Our deal is not to give univocal answers, it is to propose instead for a huge range of opportunities.
OCS is a generic urban planning concept.
It is made up by general rules of development.
These rules are built upon the complex system of environmental data present in the urban context. For this reason OCS is an adaptive and sustainable method integrated in the urban planning.
The starting point of this work is to define the right way to look at the urban environment, analyzed as:
A complex system of connections.
A wide catalog of interactive processes.
A constructive relationship with the future.
These preliminary remarks introduce the concept of Action Scenario.
We need to know on which issues we need to focus our attention.
Detecting the problems to solve will let us choose the right variables that will build up the new city. These features are the “sick body to take care of” and constitute the basis for the Action.
Collecting environmental data means looking for the urban lymph that will let the new systems grow. The new city, to be sustainable, will need to consume, transform and re-generate the existing resources, creating new opportunities to let the whole system grow in a balanced way.
The Units are architectonic configuration that follows a specific protocol: they consume environmental data through a biotic agent that in turn provides new data.
The unit goals are:
Building better conditions of life .
Re-defining the couple nature-city relationship.
Switching to sustainable process production.
The first type of Units are the Chancer, elementary Units placed directly next to the environment data. The Chancer start an open process that can develop itself in many ways. They will be consumed by Primary Units, more complex architectures, that wil be consumed by other more complex Units an so on.
The amount of possible configurations of the whole system will depend on the variables and constraints we have defined in the Action Scenario phase.
It is a digital process that, operating in real-time, visualizes the possible configurations of the new urban context following the rules of the Open Code System.
Generally it works in this way:
-Reading a b/w phisical map and generates a 3D ground of the region.
-Reading a data color map of the territory that contains up to 256 environment data types and consequently places different data points in the 3D space.

Each final configuration with its data will be saved, in picture and text format, inside an archive. The archive give us a general overview of the situations that could be developed starting from the consumption of a certain type of data rather than others.
