A national holiday, American Indian Day is celebrated annually on the fourth Friday of
September. To honor this important holiday in its unique way, the Miccosukee Tribe
of Indians of Florida, a federally recognized Tribe, has established the
Miccosukee Tribe Celebrates American Indian Day.
Located at the gateway to the Everglades, this distinctive event provides the public an
educational opportunity to learn about the Tribe’s environment and ecosystem as well as
its rich heritage, traditions and customs. Complementing this festive occasion are
cultural demonstrations, nonstop entertainment and fun-filled activities for adults and
children. Through the contemporary Native American art & entertainment showcased
from other Tribes attending from across the country, Miccosukee Tribe Celebrates
American Indian Day also brings the elements of modern Native American culture to
Entertainment will include concerts by NATIVE ROOTS, and the OSCEOLA BROTHERS BAND, storytelling by SHKEME, a MICCOSUKEE FASHION SHOW, and a dance-theater presentation by THIRZA DEFOE.
