A video exploring the wonders of Monterey Bay. Located on the central coast of California, Monterey Bay is one of the richest and most spectacular marine environments in the world.
Moss Landing Marine Laboratories, working in conjunction with nearby Gilroy High School, hopes to create a pilot program to introduce students to marine science. This video follows a science class as they board the Kahuna and head out onto the Bay.
The highlight of the trip is an encounter with a pod of orcas (killer whales) frolicking in the seas.
Special thanks to Melissa Stevens and Lisa Uttal of MLML, Jeff Manker (Gilroy High School), Scott Munro & Carol Jones (captain and owner of the Kahuna, respectively), and Julie Shattuck.
Shot with a PANASONIC AG-DVX100 -- a great little camcorder but only standard definition DV so obsolete now.
