Recording bullet ricochet sounds in the North Idaho mountains with a suppressed .22 rifle on Aug 22, 2012.
Sometimes you just gotta roll with it... and today was one of those days. A logging operation prevented us from getting up to the cliffs to record. We tried to find another route around them and if you have never been on a log skidder trail I recommend you keep it that way. These are the paths they drag the trees down and there are stumps, branches and deep depressions. Can you say rough? Bumpy? Dusty?
After heading back down the mountain we drove up the other side and were able to find a few nice quiet locations on the old logging road to record some really cool .22 suppressed ricochets and pass bys. Suppressed is the way to go! We could not do the full microphone set-up or record a bunch of guns we had with us but in the end, some great material was recorded. All's well that ends well... Will try again next week when the loggers are gone.
