Either my flying is very erratic or the air here on this field is very turbulent, I suspected the former but the video shows it was turbulence. My first flights with this model were on the slope but this time I'm flying off the flat field. I'm not really a thermal soarer but this model is quite good at staying up once you get above a certain height. It flies slightly faster than I would like for thermalling but it's a fun aeroplane which and rolls and loops.
I love the cavernous fuselage shape and the lightweight wings. I tried wing-tip smoke canisters on this flight but I was disappointed with the result... i.e. no copious volume of smoke, just a thin blue (and unseen red) line of dyed vapour from its wing tips. I'm only going to smoke at eye-level I decided! Good fun, and different, nevertheless.
If you visit my website (I'll give you a clue, favonius.com) there's a little more information and photographs of this model. I reckon this would make a really good FPV platform, there's plenty of space for the gubbins under the canopy, inside the motor pod and beneath it. I see some others have put their GPS antenna in the tailplane to keep the rf noise from the cameras at bay. Nice plane, and distinctive too.
