Within marginalized frameworks new environments of art and
architecture arise. Resources are consumed and cast off. Vast
swaths of the planet are dead, blighted and barren. Yet, in these
zones the weird and wonderful evolve. Fractal areas and discarded
shards become fertile tracts of rebuilding and new ideas.
The husks and detritus of the ever-growing consumer society
coalesce to form a new latent resource. There is a new imperative
for art and architecture to engage the real problems of society and
regain their once poignant social guidance and commentary. This is
an inherent rethinking of process and manufacturing: a paradigm shift
in the making of buildings and constructing the built environment.
The stakes have never been higher. Liberated thinking coupled with
novel technologies transform once meaningless waste into an
abundant new SOURCE.
