Play Canción Mixteca at a public event in Oaxaca and everyone start singing the lyrics. It carries a sentiment somewhere between America The Beautiful and Carolina In My Mind. Canción Mixteca and slow motion dancers seemed made for each other.
This is another video from the Guelaguetza Oaxaca project. The dancers represent groups and communities from all over the state of Oaxaca. There are 16 indigenous groups in the state of Oaxaca representing about 40% of the population making Oaxaca the most ethnic diverse state in Mexico.
I must thank Sony USA and Abelcine without whose assistance this project would not have been possible.
