I am still looking at the omnipresence of mass media that initiates ridiculously excessive practices of idolatry and mainstream consumption, although now with a focus on the mainstream viewers’ altered consciousness. Mass media is now rampant and pervasive, and the homogenization of our needs and desires are at an exalted height. I am concerned about the saturation and repetition of signs and images of mass media that disempower the mainstream consumer. Additionally, the prevalent availability and use of lens-embedded technology is evidently a catalyst for these people to develop an obsession with narcissism and materialism.
In this work, I am looking at the impact of mass media on myself, and the significant shift is in the creation of my own unique footage with myself as the subject. I aim to form a satirical visual commentary by mimicking signified images found in mainstream media that are then randomly stringed together.
