Starting Wednesday, Aug. 29th at 6pm, Chamblee UMC's youth will kick off a Bible study focusing on a very relevant topic: pop culture. Our society is bombarded with media in one way or another, saturated from it's roots to the top, by the media's presence. Many times we, the church, go to war with that. We call it "the world" and expel it and anything like it from coming through our church doors, forgetting Christ's commandment, "we are to be In the world, but not of it."
Quite simply, this Bible study is addressing that. In this study we will be recognizing central themes and characters and will analyze them, their actions, good and bad, and running it up to the Bible to see what it has to say about those things. This is a place for free discussion, for bonding, and for developing friendships, acknowledging that the world isn't a perfect place, but learning to think of it from a different perspective.
Our ministry's aim is to equip young people to experience a life of Christ beyond the boundaries of our church, and to teach them to not take things at face value, to analyze them and see the good, or bad, in them. To internalize what they see and apply the good to their own lives and to let go of the bad. So if you're between the ages of 12 and 18, we would LOVE to have you in this series of Bible studies. It's going to be great fun!
