Kinship Database and Genealogy:
Sharing Genealogical Spaces with the Alliance, a Kinship Database and Genealogy Management System and Cultural and Social Anthropological Point of View
Professor Shigenobu (‘Sig’) Sugito
School of Human Sciences, Sugiyama Jogakuen University Seminar 9, AIATSIS, Semester 1, Seminar Series 2012, Ghil'ad Zuckermann, Revival Linguistics
This presentation aims at pointing out the possibilities of "kinship ontology" for the computer graphics for genealogy and genealogical database management system. Professor Sugito, head of the database system development team, has long experience in this subject as he has been doing fieldwork research in Arnhem Land, Northern Territory, Australia, since 1984. In fact the Alliance Project (which is a kinship database and genealogy management system) originated from his studies of Aboriginal society.
