“The Sea is the Limit” exhibition, which took place in collaboration with the Hamad bin Khalifa Islamic Art Symposium, brought together works by international artists who are addressing the issues of refugees, borders, migration and national identity. The works, which included paintings, drawings, sculpture, video installations and virtual reality, explored some of the complex experiences and emotions associated with borders and migration, statelessness and belonging.
The exhibition ran from November 10 until December 7 2019, and the curator was Varvara Shavrova.
The artists were Halil Altindere, Mohammed Sami, Nidhal Chamekh, Susan Stockwell, Taus Makhacheva and Varvara Shavrova.
