(One Channel HD video, with sound)
A self-portrait of sorts, LuvU4evr came out of the challenge of “digitizing” oneself onto the screen. In this capacity, the artist explores the impossibility of tangible filmic experiences, especially in terms of self-preservation and honesty. We watch the subject experience body modification, and go through the motions of pain and vague eroticism, while in likewise tandem the image gets digitally corroded. The “ghost-like” data-moshed effect manipulates the spectacle: what starts as a video conveying tame sadomasochism ends with blurred pixels with only remnants of the original source. Paired with the distanced Irma Thomas song, Anyone, LuvU4evr is the ghost of a moment; playing with what is real and digital.
