This one took me back to my beginning with filming concerts. This was a last minute promo shoot, someone got the date wrong that I caught last minute and then all of a sudden, none of my ops were available - so I said screw it ...

I packed two Ex-1s and two tripods. Propped them up side by side, one lower than the other so I could keep my eye on it. I was propped up on the light board table (one foot on a barstool, one foot on the table) and there were other people walking around/dancing making my cams bounce so I had to straddle both cams to keep enough pressure on them to absorb the bounces (you should have seen it in person - I gave those cams tons of love that night). The lighting in this particular venue is extremely low and constantly changing to the colors cameras hate, so I was riding the iris on both cams hard - all night. I kept the cam in eye view wide and I constantly swung the other camera around as if I was up front.

Took it into post and manipulated the wide shot and voilà! I shocked myself on this one. I'm so proud of it :) It got the juices flowing again. And this band ruled that night! I ended up buying their album and then the next week, they were EVERYWHERE! Soooo cool, I feel honored to have been able to capture them and be a part of the energy that their music created in that room.
