Rosemond grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana and decided to fight the injustices that African Americans faced in the South by joining the Congress of Racial Equality (CORE), protesting, and taking part in the Freedom Rides. In the face of great risk, she courageously rode buses throughout the South to protest segregation in the 1960s.
