The Maji Safi Group (maji safi is Swahili for clean water) is an NGO in Shirati, Tanzania that was co-founded by Max Perel Slater ’11. The project is primarily focused on disease prevention by educating the people of the area about the steps required to create and store clean water.
Faye Phillips ’13 received an internship grant from the College of The Environment to conduct after school programs, utilizing music and movement to reach school age children and teach them about the clean water and hygiene practices necessary to prevent disease. Peter Horton ’13 participated in the program as well.
