"Wavelength is a weekly live music series based in Toronto. It was founded in late 1999 by a loose collective of frustrated yet hopeful independent musicians trying breathe some life into some of the darker corners of Toronto's perpetually overlooked indie music scene. "
After 9 years of constantly bringing a wide variety of music to Toronto audiences, Wavelengths celebrates its birthday with the WL 450 weekend special. With four incredible nights of music one starts to think back to all the years that have passed. What's changed? What's still the same? Bands have slowly yet surely emerged from the Toronto underground into the big leagues now (Broken Social Scene, Final Fantasy to name a few) and yet one question still remains in my mind. What makes Toronto such an incredible city for artistic talent? Why are we blessed with such a rich and eclectic music and art scene? With hopes to try and get to the core of the question I went to the WL 450 weekend and tried to discover for myself what makes Toronto so unique, and what has made Wavelengths the unbelievable success that it has become.
