SYNOPSIS:
In New York City dancing is prohibited in all establishments without a dancing license. When Julian Neville, hears about the so-called “cabaret law” on a trip to New York, he starts researching with his video camera. Video-diary-like footage combined with a classic documentary approach makes “Lowlight” a very personal portrait of New York City nightlife in the post 9-11 era. Julian’s nightlife research in NYC’s underground House Dance scene shows that the anti-dancing law is part of a demise of civil liberties across the USA.
