For SafARI 2012 BUS Projects will be travelling to Sydney to host a weekend of performance, sound and temporary works by the SafARI artists in the back of a bus. This ‘roaming gallery’ will be parked at two different public locations on the weekend 30 June – 1 July and will be free and accessible to audiences. SafARI is the ‘unofficial’ fringe event to the Biennale of Sydney, showcasing the work of some of Australia’s most exciting and innovative emerging artists. Designed to capitalise on the national and international focus on the visual arts in Sydney during the Biennale period, SafARI unabashedly rides the its slipstream, highlighting the grass roots aspect of artist run initiatives and those who help them thrive. Founded in 2004 by Lisa Corsi and Margaret Farmer, SafARI received an overwhelmingly positive response from the arts community, international visitors and the media, and we are excited to continue the legacy in 2012.
