Behind the scenes footage of adventure photographer Bud Force creating Backpacker Magazine's annual "Survival Issue" cover image.

The cover is a composite image created from nearly 30 separate photographs shot across four different locations, including Guadalupe Mountains National Park's El Capitan in West Texas.

Bud Force is a photographer and filmmaker specializing in outdoor adventure sports, travel, lifestyle, and humanitarian aid issues. In addition, having covered some of the most prominent natural disasters in the United States' history, he the author of the new book Urban Search & Rescue, published by TAMU Press.

A former BBC Photographer of the Year finalist, Bud works for clients around the globe and is an agile multimedia artist who is as comfortable in the remote wilderness as he is on large commercial sets. He is capable of working on land, water, or in the air; with work transcending organic-feeling imagery to stylized commercial lighting setups.

Bud was raised across the American West and is full of wanderlust. He lives with his wife Megan on a plot of land at the top of the Texas Hill Country.
