Organic fruit farm Landgoed De Olmenhorst is a huge property at the border of the village Lisserbroek
with more than 17 hectares of orchards including 38,000 apple trees and 10,000 pear trees.
In the late 90’s they started working according to the organic principles and
since 2003 all their fruit is sold as organic.
On June 15, 2012, I was invited to this place to celebrate the wedding of a dear friend
who once told me about the joys of swimming with dolphins.
Where I live, swimming with dolphins is often associated with
Princess Irene of the Netherlands.
In 1995 the princess published her book Dialogue with Nature.
The book outlined her philosophy that human beings are alienated from the natural world,
but the Dutch media seized upon passages that
recounted conversations she said she had with the trees and dolphins.
I never had the opportunity to swim with dolphins, but this video captures
my recent (September 9, 2012) attempt to start an intimate
(I was the only human soul present in the orchards) conversation
with some apple and pear trees :)
