Increase YouTube Video Watch Time by Using Cards
Welcome back to another “YES YOU CAN!” DIY Digital Marketing Tutorial by TTG. In this video, you’ll learn all about YouTube cards and how to use them on your channel’s videos to help increase watch time and ultimately grow your YouTube channel.
YouTube Cards are notifications you can set up to appear on desktop and mobile. Cards – which increase YouTube watch time by linking to videos, channels, and playlists – are conveniently placed in the upper right-hand corner of your videos. YouTube allows you to have up to five cards per video, and – unlike intrusive ads – if the viewer doesn’t click on a card, it disappears from view.
YouTube Card Tips & Best Practices:
• According to YouTube, cards work well when they are placed in conjunction with scripted calls to action or when they are relevant to your video content. For example, if you mention a specific a piece of merchandise, you could try adding a card at that exact moment providing a link to the merchandise.
• Note that a major difference between cards and end screens is that you can put a card in your video at any point whereas end screens can only be placed starting at the last 20 seconds of your video.
