What were some of the things Jesus did during His time on earth?
Walked on the water, died on the cross, healed people, fed people, water to wine, taught people
How did people treat Jesus?
Isaiah 53:3 - "He was despised and rejected a man of sorrows, acquainted with deepest grief. We turned our backs on him and looked the other way. He was despised, and we did not care."
Have you ever felt this way? Like no one wanted you?
Did Jesus deserve the way He was treated?
Isaiah 53:4-5, 9 - "Yet it was our weaknesses he carried; it was our sorrows that weighed him down. And we thought his troubles were a punishment from God, a punishment for his own sins! But he was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins. He was beaten so we could be whole. He was whipped so we could be healed."
"He had done no wrong and had never deceived anyone. But he was buried like a criminal; he was put in a rich man’s grave."
Why did Jesus choose to go through with all the pain and suffering He did?
Isaiah 53:10 - "But it was the Lord’s good plan to crush him and cause him grief. Yet when his life is made an offering for sin, he will have many descendants. He will enjoy a long life, and the Lord’s good plan will prosper in his hands."
John 3:16-17 “For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him."
Thinking about why we celebrate Christmas, why is it such a big deal that Jesus came to earth? What does this mean for people?
