This is a short film (well, more like a simple assembly of some footage) I made in about 1991. It documents some of the conceptual art created by the Guerrilla Theater of the Absurd, led by Igor Vamos who is now better known as Mike Bonanno of the Yes Men. This film shows the reverse peristalsis painters in action (along with commentary by Randy Gragg of the Oregonian), includes some news coverage of a prank in which GToA changed Portland's Front Ave into "Malcolm X Ave", and documents a small tug of war with the Portland police over a large satirical flag. This mostly originated in 16mm, was edited in 3/4 inch video and then digitized directly from that (thus accounting for its washed-out appearance). Music by John Bell.
