Abstract video .
A parade in Dublin was recorded with a camcorder which uses mini-cassettes. When downloaded onto the computer the video played as a long and boring stream of moving lines ( possibly a missing codec) . I re- recorded sections of the corrupt video whilst it played on the computer screen using my DSLR. Turning my camera through 90 degrees gave the impression of the film or “tapestry” turning. The soft greens and purples form post processing suggested the heather and mountains of Ireland – a Celtic theme. The music “Pach Pi” is a folk song from French Brittany which, to my ears, sounds like a Schwitters “Merz” sound poem. The video is dedicated to the Trustees of Littoral Arts Trust who maintain the Schwitters Merzbarn in Cumbria.
Music is Pach Pi a traditional folk song from Brittany. Sung by Louise Ebrel and Ifig Flatres
