[Narrator:] Mindfulness meditation is a practice that helps to reduce the effects of stress on both the body and mind.

[Narrator:] It can help to decrease blood pressure and heart rate, as well as decrease anxiety and depression. It can also help to relieve or manage other symptoms related to cancer such as pain, fatigue and nausea. Our clinicians train patients in this technique by using relaxation-evoking visual images to help guide them into reaching a meditative state.
[Narrator:] We offer this training at Miami Cancer Institute’s mindfulness meditation suite, by bringing patients into a quiet, healing, soothing environment with soft lighting and comfortable reclining seating.
