We make life decisions, define new features, or refactor code when we get too annoyed by current circumstances. This is where Evan admits that he has a low tolerance for frustration. Having been frustrated a great deal during his career, Evan will discuss several anti-patterns that he has seen in code and how to use the Dark Side of the Force (frustration, anger, and rage) to escape from them.
About the Presenter
Evan Light is a freelance software developer with 15 years of experience designing, implementing, and maintaining commercial and enterprise applications for telecoms, government, and web startups. He has been a frequent speaker and attendee at technical conferences, particularly those focused on the Ruby programming language. He has published magazine articles on developing with Ruby. Evan founded and organizes the annual Ruby DCamp unconference. Evan is located just outside Ocean City, MD where he works primarily from his home office. Evan describes himself as a code janitor, Sci-Fi nerd, escaped Java developer, still loves C, his wife, and 4 cats.
