Sam Pitroda on sustainability, design and the national innovation agenda in India. Introduction by Patrick Whitney.
Sam is the chairman of India's National Knowledge Commission, a position reporting directly to the Prime Minister. Credited with having laid the foundation for India's technology revolution in the 1980s while he was chairman of India's first Telecom Commission, he has long been a leading campaigner to help bridge the global digital divide. A serial entrepreneur and Chicago-area resident, he holds close to 100 worldwide patents in telecom and mobile commerce.
Hosted in partnership with the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce Foundation, the 2009 Innovation Summit brought together influential innovation experts, business executives, academics and government leaders to discuss innovation and accelerate Chicagoland's development as a globally recognized center for innovation. The summit was a collaboration between Illinois Institute of Technology Institute of Design and InnovateNow, the CCCF's innovation initative.
