The 15th Eurovision Song Contest, held at the RAI Congrescentrum in Amsterdam. Broadcast across Europe on Saturday on 21 March 1970. This is the very rare and unique original RTE broadcast with live telephone (!) commentary from an unspecified Irish presenter. This Eurovision was particularly special for Ireland in 1970 as it marked their first ever win with Dana's 'All Kind Of Everything'.
Ironically there was a break in video transmission during Dana's performace, the audio remains intact but as she is the ultimate winner, there is a reprise of the song at the contest's finale.
This version includes all the voting which is almost an event in itself. The UK entry in 1970 was Mary Hopkin's 'Knock Knock, Who's There' which came in a respectable second. Also featured is a very young Julio Iglesias, representing Spain. Brought to you by trentsound.com, online community radio for Nottingham.
