Biking the approx. 50 km (?) from the Sognefjell to the Sognefjord ("the highest mountain pass in Northern Europe") and back again.
Starting from a camp nearby the small lake of Silja the route follows the national tourist road from 1400 m.a.s.l. to sea level in Skjolden and back to the camp again. According to a Norwegian cycling site (sykkel.nu/) the middle (major) part of the route matches the classic Alpe d'Huez climb in France in terms of length and elevation (13.5 km length, 1140 meters elevation).
The video was recorded with a helmet cam, and one of the experiences was that it's difficult to assert the right angle of mounting the cam. Generally - and especially during the climb - there're too much road and too little landscape and sky.
This is the bike setup: peterman.dk/cykel-canyon-specs-gb-1200.htm .
Perhaps you'll find the music a little intimidating (you may shut off the speakers), but the music (not necessarily the words) pretty much reflects the mood of the rider (as I recall).
Recorded Wednesday the 15th August 2012.
