The cheekily-named "Nano Turbo Slider Dolly" is an ultra-cheap home-made dolly and track for DSLR time lapse. It moves the camera dolly one millimeter in 11 seconds, which is a bit slow. It uses pulleys, so a quick re-wiring will double the speed.
The track is aluminium strips used in tile finishing. A one-rev-per-minute motor winds up the nylon thread, which passes through three pulleys. The camera dolly can travel for about 1.2 metres.
